WATCH THE VIDEO
Using material classifications in SAP, you can add material characteristics, for example physical dimensions of a material, its color or brand. Material characteristics from SAP can be used to extend web store search functionality, so customers will be able to search for a product by its characteristics. They can be also used for facets to filter the catalog by material characteristics, and shown on the product list and product details pages as product specifications.
You can add product specifications to the product details page using the Product specifications content element.
Add Material Characteristics in SAP
You can add material characteristics in the material master data, on the Classification tab.
In the Classification window, you can add characteristics of a material and their values.
Map SAP Material Characteristics to Sana
Those classes which you are using to add material characteristics in SAP must be also added to the Product Classification Mapping table.
Step 1: In the main menu of the Sana add-on, click Webstore Configuration.
Step 2: In the Webstore Id field, select your webstore and click on the Change Webstore Settings button at the top. Expand the Products area.
Step 3: Use the Product Classification Mapping table to define the classes you are using to add material characteristics in SAP. To do this, select the necessary class. If you use different classes to add material characteristics in SAP, all required classes can be added to this table.
Only material characteristics of the classes added to this table will be available in Sana Admin for indexing to configure web store search, facetted filters and product specifications.
When characteristics are added to the materials in SAP, you can open Sana Admin, click: Setup > Search & filters, and extend your web store search capabilities with material characteristics. You can add material characteristic fields from SAP to the filter and keyword fields and update product index to retrieve material characteristics from SAP.

You can also use these fields to filter the catalog in the web store using facets.
In Sana Admin click: Setup > Search & filters > Facetted filters. Using facets, a customer can filter the products in the web store, for example by color, size or brand. The facetted filter is shown in the web store on the left of the product list and search results pages.

Material characteristics from SAP can be used not only to extend your web store search capabilities, but also to show product specifications in the Sana web store.
