FAQ

All existing functionality that you know and love to have with Sana will still be available. But given the impact and benefits of our architectural changes and the state-of-the-art technology, we decided to release Sana Commerce Cloud as a new Sana product. Using the React frontend framework will provide better performance, a better user experience, less network traffic, faster development and the first steps towards Progressive Web Apps (PWA) and headless e-commerce.
We rebuilt Sana Admin with a new design and many UX improvements, so that it will be easier to start with Sana, but also to maintain a web store after going live. We also implemented React technology for Sana Admin, with significant performance improvements for the day-to-day shop manager.

Technology evolves over time, browser support needs change, and customers expect even more competitive new features, better security, improved performance, and SEO functionality. Even if you’re happy with your current Sana web store, we recommend you proactively update your e-commerce experience before potentially falling behind competitors. Did you know that Google introduces at least weekly SEO changes for their search engines?

A tailor-made transition plan will be created for each customer, based on needs, preferences, and individual specifications. You can find more details about the process in the section Migration and we will provide support for the migration process, but you should expect that you may still need additional resources to do this, especially with migrating content.

The Initial Release of Sana Commerce Cloud is September 16, 2020. Then, monthly releases will follow. These monthly releases will be used to complete the so-called “release scope”. The release scope consists of all relevant Sana Commerce 9.3.5 features. The scope overview can be found here.

A lot of functionality has already been implemented. The scope overview can be found here.

Most Sana Commerce 9.3.5 features will become available (>90%) within approximately 4-6 months after the Initial Release (September 16). There are only a few exceptions: certain unused Sana Commerce 9 features were removed from Sana Commerce Cloud. The deprecated features can be found here.

The main reason for this is that most customers only use a limited set of features. Here is an example: a lot of our customers take orders only on account and do not require online payments. It would be unwise that these customers should wait for features they don’t use.

We always encourage our customers to run on the latest Sana ERP connectors, as we continuously implement new features, bug fixes and performance improvements in our connectors.
If the update is not possible for some reason, the majority of our Sana Commerce 9.2 > connector versions will most likely work with Sana Commerce Cloud (subject to final technical evaluation by the development team).

Yes, migration to Sana Commerce Cloud requires an updated version of your Sana license agreement.

No, with Sana Commerce Cloud we support new technologies so we can offer better services to our customers and we can scale as a company. Most of our customers are already hosted by Sana, so we decided to stop support of different deployment options. If your Sana web store is currently not hosted with us, we will take care of this in our tailor-made transition plan. Please contact your Customer Success Manager if you want to know more.

No, there will be no Sana Upgrade Toolkit available for Sana Commerce Cloud. Sana’s Platform Team will take care of migrating the SQL data and content files from your Sana Commerce 9 instance to Sana Commerce Cloud.
If a customer does not host Sana with us yet, a tailor-made plan must be created how to migrate data to our platform.

VPCs will no longer be available with Sana Commerce Cloud.

Our Sana Commerce Cloud demo environment can be found here.

We will continue to support Sana 9.3.x versions with active support up to three years after Sana Commerce Cloud release date. You can find our current support policies here.
Active support consists of hotfixes for show-stopper bugs, such as critical security issues. Passive support - which only includes support for customizations - will be provided up to five years after Sana Commerce Cloud release date on a temporary and material basis. If you have additional questions on this topic, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
