Volume Pricing

WATCH THE VIDEO

Volume pricing is a pricing strategy that allows discounts for bulk purchases. Typically, it is used to give better pricing to customers who purchase larger quantities of items.

Volume prices are shown on a product details page and are triggered in a shopping cart based on the business logic coming from Microsoft Dynamics GP. A customer can see pricing offers directly on the product details page, before ordering the product.

You can set up volume prices for an item in Microsoft Dynamics GP, regardless of whether you are using standard or extended pricing.

To set up volume prices for an item in Microsoft Dynamics GP, you must use quantity breaks (Start Quantity and End Quantity). You can add a certain price to each quantity range. A price for a customer is calculated based on the number of items added to the shopping cart.

Standard Pricing

If you are using standard pricing, then use quantity breaks (Start Quantity and End Quantity) in the price lists to configure volume (tiered) prices for an item.

You can create as many quantity ranges as you need for each combination of currency, price level and unit of measure.

NOTE

If you're using quantity breaks for a combination of currency, price level and unit of measure, the ranges you define, such as 0-50 units, 51-100 units and so on, must cover all possible quantities from 0 to 999,999,999,999. The End Quantity for the last quantity range must be 999,999,999,999 with additional 9's if one or more decimals are used to track the item's quantity information.

Extended Pricing

If you are using extended pricing, then use quantity breaks (Start Quantity and End Quantity) in the price sheets to configure volume (tiered) prices for an item.

To use quantity breaks in the price sheet, select the checkbox Enable Quantity Breaks and enter Start Quantity and End Quantity.

If quantity breaks are set in the item price list (standard pricing) or in the price sheet (extended pricing) in Microsoft Dynamics GP, then in the webshop, on the product details page, a customer will see a link View volume discount under the item price. Clicking on this link opens the table with volume discounts coming from Microsoft Dynamics GP.

The link View volume discount is shown on the product details page using the View volume discount link content element.
