NOTE

Applies to: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3

In Microsoft Dynamics AX you can set up weight and physical dimensions of a product per unit of measure. This information is needed if you use delivery services which require weight and physical dimensions of a package to calculate the shipping costs, for example FedEx or UPS, or the internal Sana shipping costs calculation method based on weight. For more information about delivery services, see Shipping Methods.

Weight and physical dimensions can be set up on the Released product details form.

On the Manage inventory FastTab, you can define inventory unit of a product and its weight measurements and physical dimensions for one inventory unit.

If you use multiple units of measure, you can define weight measurements and physical dimensions of a product per unit of measure. On the Released product details form, on the Manage inventory tab, click Physical dimensions.

For more information about how to set up units of measure in Microsoft Dynamics AX, see Units of Measure.

The units of mass and length which are used for weight measurements and physical dimensions can be set in Sana Admin under: Setup > Products > Units of measure.

For more information about units of measure settings in Sana Admin, see Units of Measure.

Product Variant Weight

If a product has variants, to define the product variant weight, you must sum up product gross weight and product variant total weight.

Product variant weight = Product gross weight + Product variant total weight

On the Released product details form, on the Manage inventory FastTab, you can find product gross weight.

Product gross weight = Net weight + Tare weight

On the Released product variants form, you can find product variant total weight.

To calculate the product variant total weight, open the necessary product of a product master subtype and on the Product tab, click Product dimensions. In the Replenishment weight column, you can specify the additional weight for each product dimension. If the product variant has several product dimensions, for example color and size, then these replenishment product weights will be multiplied.
