Discount Types

Sana Commerce Cloud offers various types of discounts to enhance sales and customer satisfaction.

The available discount types are:

  • Order discount: Discount applied to the total cost of an order, reducing the overall purchase price. It is often used to encourage bulk purchases or reward loyal customers.

  • Free shipping: Special offer that removes the cost of delivery, making it free for customers. Many businesses set a minimum purchase amount to qualify for free shipping, encouraging customers to spend more.

  • Product discount: Discount applies a price reduction for selected products from product sets. Usually these discounts can be seasonal, promotional, or clearance-based, allowing businesses to highlight specific items and drive sales.

Discount Priority

If there are products in the shopping cart that meet the criteria for an automatic discount, but a customer enters a discount code, the code discount will override the automatic discount and will be applied.

If there are products in the shopping cart that meet the criteria for multiple automatic discounts, the discount with the highest priority will be applied. The priority order is as follows:

  1. Highest priority: Order discount

  2. Second priority: Product discount

  3. Lowest priority: Free shipping

    Free shipping has the lowest priority among all discount types and will be applied only if no higher-priority discount is applicable.

Handling Multiple Product Discounts

  • If there are products in the shopping cart that meet the criteria for multiple automatic product discounts, the most recent product discount will be applied.

  • Discounts from the ERP systems may override Sana discounts. For more information, see Limitations and Key Points.
