Item Variant Improvements
We released the item variants functionality quite a while ago. We introduced it as a light version so that our customers could try it out and tell us what else could be improved. In this release, we’ve made some improvements to the item variants functionality based on our customers’ feedback, so we consider the feature fully complete.
- Previously, creating item variants for customers with multiple webstores was a very time-consuming process because variant groups and relationships had to be configured for each webstore separately. Now you have a choice. You can create variant groups and relationships for all webstores if they are the same, as well as different variant groups and relationships for different webstores.
- To create item variants in SAP Business One, you need to build relationships between the parent item and all its item variants (child items). Previously, the parent item along with its variants was indexed by Sana and displayed in the webstore only if it was marked as a sales and inventory item, even if it was a dummy item and not intended for sale. Now the parent item does not have to be a sales and inventory item in SAP Business One, if you don’t intend to sell it, it will be still indexed by Sana and displayed in the webstore.
- If you used the parent item as a dummy item without inventory only to group item variants, it was displayed as out of stock on the product list page, which could be confusing. Inventory was only displayed for the item variants on the product details page. Now we show the sum of the quantities of all item variants for the parent item.
