Sana for Microsoft Dynamics GP Limitations

Sana Commerce Cloud is the e-commerce solution for Microsoft Dynamics and SAP. The ERP systems have much in common, but at the same time, there are many differences. For example, in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics AX you can create product variants that are not available in Microsoft Dynamics GP and vice versa, there are features in other ERP systems, for example in SAP, which are not available in Microsoft Dynamics ERP systems.

While developing the Sana Commerce Cloud add-ons for Microsoft Dynamics and SAP we try to make them as similar as possible in functionality and stick to the ERP coding conventions and best practices, but of course, there are some differences depending on the ERP system Sana Commerce Cloud connects to.

In this article, you will learn about Sana Commerce Cloud features that are not supported by Microsoft Dynamics GP.

Item Variants

There is no standard item variants functionality in Microsoft Dynamics GP. Therefore, Sana Commerce Cloud connected to Microsoft Dynamics GP does not support item variants.

Item variants are used to manage items that have different variations, such as color and size.

Order Processing Strategy Optimized for Large Orders

At the moment, the order processing strategy optimized for large orders is not supported by Sana Commerce Cloud integrated with Microsoft Dynamics GP.

This order processing strategy allows placing large orders, for example, an order that consists of more than 100 order lines.

You can still use the Default order processing strategy. But if your customers create large orders containing a lot of order lines, they may encounter performance issues. If your customers often create large orders, you can test it yourself and see how the webstore connected to your Microsoft Dynamics GP system behaves. If you have any questions related to this, you can contact your Sana project or customer success manager for more information.

Sales Agreements

There is no standard sales agreements functionality in Microsoft Dynamics GP. Therefore, Sana Commerce Cloud connected to Microsoft Dynamics GP does not support sales agreements.

A sales agreement is a contract that commits the customer to buy products in a specific quantity or for a specific amount over time, in exchange for special prices and discounts.

Sales Reports

Microsoft Dynamics GP does not support downloading sales reports via Web service. Therefore, customers cannot download sales reports directly from the Sana webstore.

Sana Commerce Cloud enables customers to download printable reports (PDF files) generated by the ERP system directly from the webstore. Many ERP systems can generate reports for all types of sales documents (orders, quotes, invoices, shipments, return receipts, credit notes).

But it is also possible to upload sales reports to the file system of Sana using the file manager in Sana Admin. In this case, customers can still download sales reports from the Sana webstore.

Avalara AvaTax Tax Calculation for Prospects

Avalara AvaTax tax calculation is not available for prospects.

States for Different Countries

If there are states, regions or counties for different countries created in the ERP system, Sana can retrieve them and show them in the webstore. Unlike other ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics GP does not support states, regions and counties for different countries. They can be used for customer registration and for shipping addresses. That is why when a customer for example selects Australia during registration in the Sana webshop connected to Microsoft Dynamics GP, a customer will not be able to specify the state.
