Prerequisites

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a cryptographic protocol that provides security and data integrity for data communications over a network. By encrypting your Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web service with SSL, you make your data and your network more secure and more reliable.

This guide will walk you through configuration of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, access control list and NAV Web service to use self-signed SS certificate.

To complete this walkthrough, you will need:

• Self-signed SSL certificate must be created and installed in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities. For more information, see Create a Self-Signed SSL Certificate.

• The Netsh.exe tool.

• When running on Windows Server 2008 R2, make sure that the hotfix KB981506 is installed.
