Address validation occurs on all forms where the address is available, for example, the registration form, shipping address, and customer profile.

If customers enter incorrect addresses – addresses that do not exist or addresses entered with mistakes – the Google address validation app can offer suggestions with correct addresses.

If you force a valid address, customers cannot place an order or create an account until the specified address is successfully validated.

A negative response from the Google Address Validation API does not always indicate an invalid address entered by a customer. It can simply mean that the customer is using a new address that has not yet been added to Google's database, for example.

Please note that existing addresses are not validated. Only new addresses are validated or when customers update existing addresses. For example, during the checkout process, only custom shipping addresses are validated. If customers select one of the existing addresses from the address book, the address validation does not occur.
