Shipment Tracking
You can add more value to the shipping methods functionality. You can give your customers the benefit of tracking their orders at real time directly from the Sana webstore.
Shipment tracking plays a significant role in the customer experience, letting your customers know what to expect for their delivery and being notified of any delays.
In Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations there are two ways of shipment tracking.
-
You can use the tracking number on the Packing slip journal of a sales order.
This tracking number will be shown on the posted shipment page in the webshop. Customers just need to click on the tracking number from the posted shipment in the Sana webstore to check the delivery status of their package directly on the shipping carrier website. For more information about tracking URLs, see Tracking URL below.
-
If you are using the warehouse management processes in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations the Pro number on the Transportation tab of the Shipment details serves as a tracking number and it will be shown on the posted shipment page in the Sana webshop.
NOTE
Applies to: Sana Commerce Cloud 10.0.9 and higher in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations
On the Transportation tab you can also see the Shipping carrier that is used for the shipment. On the Shipping carriers page, you can find the Tracking URL which will be used for checking the customer’s package delivery. For more information about tracking URLs, see Tracking URL below.
Tracking URL
Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations supports shipment tracking. Customers can track their packages real time online using the tracking URL which is linked with the tracking number.
The tracking URL is a URL of the shipping provider tracking website.
Example:
https://www.fedex.com/fedextrack/?tracknumbers=%1
Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations uses this URL to track the package on a posted shipment. Sana will substitute the replacement tag %1 with the tracking number.
In the Sana webstore customers can see the tracking number as a link on the posted shipment page.
When the customer clicks on the tracking number on the posted shipment page, the website of the shipping provider will open and begin a search for the relevant package.
