Supported e-Con Product Models
Webstore customers can configure the products directly on the product details pages based on their needs using the e-Con Product Configurator with real-time visualization in a responsive user interface that adapts to any device. Once the product is ready, a customer can add it to the basket and place the order which will be saved to the ERP system.
Currently, Sana Commerce Cloud supports four e-Con product models.
The first product model allows customers to select existing components or product versions from a predefined list similar to product variants. These are the products which already exist in your ERP system. With this model, e-Con does not create a new product. For example, if you sell sofas, your customers can specify its material, type of seaters, their colors, number of back rests, etc.
The second product model allows customers to create a custom product in the e-Con Product Configurator which will be then automatically created in your ERP system. For example, if you sell doors, your customers can select a door model, specify size, color, material, door handle and its position, number of hinges, number and type of locks, etc.
Every time when a customer configures a product using the e-Con Product Configurator, e-Con will create a new product with a unique identifier in the ERP system.
If you open this product in your ERP system, by default the checkbox Visible in Webshop will be disabled for this configured product and it will not be shown in the catalog of your web store. This means that all custom products created from the Sana web store by your customers using the e-Con Product Configurator will be marked as invisible in your ERP system by default and not shown to your customers in the web store catalog. But you can enable visibility for custom products created by e-Con just like for any other product and make them available for purchase online to your customers in your web store catalog.
The third product model allows customers to create a custom product variant in the e-Con Product Configurator which will be then automatically created in your ERP system. Every time when a customer configures an existing product that is used as the base product using the e-Con Product Configurator, e-Con will create a new product variant for this product in the ERP system.
If you open this product variant in your ERP system, by default the checkbox Visible in Webshop will be disabled for this configured product variant and it will not be shown on the product details page in your web store. This means that all custom product variants created from the Sana web store by your customers using the e-Con Product Configurator will be marked as invisible in your ERP system by default and not shown to your customers in the web store catalog. But you can enable visibility for custom product variants created by e-Con just like for any other product variant and make them available for purchase online to your customers in your web store.
To support the third e-Con product model, Sana Commerce Cloud ignores orderability and stock of this new product variant when it is created in the ERP system. This change was implemented in Sana Commerce Cloud 10.0.43 in the Microsoft Dynamics ERP systems.
The fourth product model allows customers to use one core product as a basis and additionally select several other products from the list. Thus, this model allows multiple products to be used simultaneously to configure a product. Examples of such additional goods can be related products, accessories, spare parts, consumables, etc.
When you configure a product that consists of several products using e-Con Product Configurator and add it to the shopping cart, all these products will be displayed in the shopping cart as well as in the sales order as separate lines of one core product.
The fourth product model is supported starting with Sana Commerce Cloud 1.66 and higher.
Configurator Model in ERP
Applies to: Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
In the Microsoft Dynamics ERP systems there is the product (item) field related to e-Con Product Configurator, called Configurator Model. This field is added by Sana.

Microsoft Dynamics AX
Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations
Sana uses this field to distinguish configurable products from normal products. If a product has a Configurator Model in ERP, customers can configure this product on the product details page in a Sana web store using the e-Con Product Configurator. If there is no value in the Configurator Model field for a product in ERP, Sana will recognize this product as a normal product with no option to configure it. Instead of the Configure button there will be the button Add to cart for configurable products in the Sana webstore.
When a customer clicks on the Configure button on the product details page in the Sana webstore, the e-Con Product Configurator will open. There a user will be able to configure a custom product depending on the e-Con model assigned to it.
