Explode BOM Items

In Microsoft Dynamics NAV a bill of materials (BOM) explosion answers the question: What is the item made of? BOM explosion refers to the extensive list of raw materials or components that are required to produce an item. It is used in various situations, for example when designing, manufacturing, or repairing an item it is necessary to know from which materials or components the item consists.

In the Sana webstore, customers have always been able to see BOM components on the product details pages. But when they created sales orders with BOM items, they were added to the sales orders as finished products without their components.

Now we support BOM explosion. This means that when a customer adds the BOM item to the shopping cart, Microsoft Dynamics NAV can identify that the added item is the BOM item with components and automatically “explode” it. So, the customer will see all BOM components and their prices in the shopping cart instead of the finished BOM item. The same will be in the sales order in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

A webstore administrator has a choice whether to explode BOM items or not.
