Sana Redesign
Speaking about software, the word “design” can be seen in its narrow meaning as a graphical interface, and in a broader sense when design is a part of software architecture, new technologies, etc.
Redesigning a software product is a common occurrence. But it is important to consider different aspects when thinking about a redesign. Redesigning a software product just to change its appearance does not bring much value. It does not bring more sales, more revenue, or more success. But it is expensive in terms of money, time, and human resources.
Before doing a redesign, you must determine the real need for it.
When we start thinking of a redesign at Sana, we consider the word “design” in a broader sense. We see it as a part of our architecture, technology, product flexibility and of course user interface, how users interact with it.
We changed the design of Sana Admin as we moved to new technologies – and this is not a redesign for the sake of redesign, but product evolution.
We made Sana Admin prettier, more user-friendly, we moved some features to other places and renamed them to make it more intuitive for end users, we changed the styles, input fields and validation, and finally we refreshed the user interface of Sana Admin. But what is more important is that thanks to new technologies, Sana Commerce Cloud has become much faster.
A Sana web store has also become a part of the Sana Commerce Cloud evolution. With the transition to new technologies, it has also become much faster. We have not made as many changes in the web store design as in Sana Admin, but still we have improved a few things. We slightly changed the look and feel of the checkout process, both one step and multi step, we changed progress indication on all pages, and design of all kind of messages, such as warnings and confirmation messages. Now customers can see nicely designed messages that pop up, informing them about unsuccessful attempts or vice versa about the successful completion of some action.
The most important thing about web store design is that we implemented a completely new content management system in Sana Commerce Cloud. The new Sana Commerce Cloud CMS is an all-in-one page builder and visual designer that is used not only to create pages, but also to design them. This allows to create web stores, each with its own unique design.
