Supported Browsers

These days, all commonly used web browsers, like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Safari pushes automatic updates whenever a new version of a browser is available. To keep giving you a great shopping experience, Sana Commerce requires an up-to-date web browser (latest version) to make sure that you can use all features of the Sana webstore.

Desktop

Mobile

Microsoft Edge based on Chromium (latest)*

Safari on iOS (latest)

Google Chrome (latest)

Native Android browser (latest)

Mozilla Firefox (latest)

Google Chrome on Android (latest)

Safari for Mac (latest)

Basic compatibility should be expected on any Android and iOS mobile devices.

Depending on whether you open the Sana Commerce webstore on desktop computer, tablet or smartphone and its screen resolution, the appropriate webstore layout will be used. For more information, see Webstore Design.

* There are two Microsoft Edge browsers - the old Microsoft Edge Legacy which is the EdgeHTML based browser and the new Microsoft Edge which is based on Chromium. Support for Microsoft Edge Legacy ended on March 9, 2021 and it is not supported by Sana Commerce Cloud. The new Microsoft Edge based on Chromium was released in January 2020. It's available on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.

It is better to use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browsers to open Sana apps in the SAP Fiori launchpad. We do not recommend to use Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge web browsers for this purpose since it may cause some problems.

Service Workers and Mozilla Firefox

Sana Commerce Cloud uses service workers to cache webstore resources such as images, fonts, scripts, etc. All Web browsers supported by Sana support service workers except Mozilla Firefox in the Private browsing mode. When the user runs Mozilla Firefox in the Private browsing mode, the default caching mechanism is used.

If you enable the option Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed in the Firefox options, the following errors will be shown in the Firefox Developer Tools Console:

  • Failed to register/update a ServiceWorker for scope ‘https://site-address.domain/’: Storage access is restricted in this context due to user settings or private browsing mode.
  • Error during service worker registration: DOMException: The operation is insecure.

To avoid these errors in the Firefox Console and for service workers to register and work correctly, you should add your webstore(s) to the exceptions list. For more information, see Manage local site storage settings on the Mozilla website.
